What are priority and non-priority debts?

It can be hard to know which debts to pay first when you’re struggling to keep up with your bills.

Some bills are more important than others, however. If you don’t pay them, you could lose your home, have your gas and electricity cut off or face other serious problems. These are called priority debts.

Other debts are still important, but they don’t cause big problems as quickly. These are called non-priority debts.

This guide will help you understand the difference between the two so you can plan and tackle your priority debts first.
